"Able" to Kill It.

This semester, I have one of the most important classes for me and my career goals: Product Design. However, having it spring semester, there were not as many class periods, but I'll explain.

Basically, Product Design is the class where we learn about the technologies that go into snowboards as well as some marketing tactics and popular graphic trends. We take all of that and put it into our own company that we start in class.

In the very beginning, the class splits up into 3 groups of about 9 people, and those are the companies. Throughout the lectures, we do group assignments to formutlate the direction we want our company to go in and the tasks for each group member. I ended up being picked group leader and our group decided on the name Able Snowboards. We are park riding based company with really creative graphics. We came up with a really cool marketing tool/company image with an Able to Do Something theme. Our main snowboard is called the Able to Believe, and the graphic features a bunch of mythical creatures such as sasquatch, a leprechaun, and on the bottom, a unicorn. Some others were the Able to Garden, which has a flower and a shovel on it, and the Able to Eat, which features a big hot dog on the top.

Once we have a really solid foundation of where our company is going, as well as our boards' graphics and tech specs, it was about midterm time. For the midterm, each group has to give a presentation to 5 local shop owners and people from the snowsports industry about your company and why they should buy your products. After all the groups were done, they left for about ten minutes in order to pick the best group. The point of this presentation was to decide which group had the best grasp of the ideas from class and from there, the one company they pick ends up being the company of the entire class, and for the rest of the semester, the whole class works as the one company.

Well needless to say, Able won it, and when I get back from spring break, I could end up as leader of the entire class.

As a side note, spring break has been awesome and I'll definetly write about it afterwards. Peace.
